Personal Hygiene Drive

Join Syre in sharing kindness this February by donating new dental hygiene and deodorant products to The Works!  We are collecting toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss and deodorant for Shoreline families and welcome your contributions in the dropoff bin, located inside the school office.  Sharing is kindness!

The Works is a free student clothing room that provides high quality, clean and gently used children's and teen clothing and self-care items to Shoreline School District children.  The Works is run by a committee of PTA volunteers and are supported each Wednesday evening by volunteers from local PTA units and community members.  Give your time and help sort and hang donations!  Sign up at the link below and bring a friend!

Congrats to our 2024 Award Winners!

brittany gallaher: Golden Acorn

Brittany goes above and beyond to give her time to support Syre kids and families. In addition to running weekly meetings for her 2 Girl Scout troops, she gives her time to help with staff appreciation, the school dance, and other Syre community events like the Halloween carnival. Brittany’s smiling face and positive energy are such a consistent joy in our school and community.

sarah hinnenkamp: Golden Acorn

Sarah has been a constant presence in the Syre community and PTA as a volunteer! It seems that service is her middle name. Sarah's positive influence is felt across so many Shoreline schools and all over our community.  She steps into any job and approaches it with a fun, optimistic attitude. Her creativity, energy, and passion have served the Syre community as she has volunteered for all the school events and activities over the past 7 years! Her goal is always to engage the students and families and to bring everyone together as a community. Her service at Shorewood, on the Syre PTA Community Service Committee, at the Einstein yearbook club, and at the RB Strawberry Festival are just a few of the places where Sarah generously gives her time.

bianca williams: Golden Acorn

Bianca contributes so much to the school and Richmond Beach community and does so in a very selfless way.  She has dedicated her life to making the community a happy place for our kids -  serving as PTA Co-President, volunteering in the library, coordinating the RB Strawberry Festival + more.  Her volunteer work is driven by her desire to help and she does not seek out praise or recognition. She seeks to find solutions instead of focusing on the roadblocks. Her community is very important to her and she gives back fully to everybody she meets.

april stretz: Outstanding Advocate 

April has been an unwavering source of support for her students at Syre Elementary. In her role as the special education teacher managing the resource room, April provides essential support in various areas including reading, social-emotional learning, speech therapy, written expression, and more. April's impact buzzes throughout our school as she consistently applies best practices and research-based interventions that benefit not only her own students but also touch the lives of those in every classroom. She approaches each new case with unwavering dedication, ensuring that every child receives personalized attention and support. Her commitment to bringing out the unique strengths of each student is truly commendable, as is her collaborative approach to working with both teachers and students to address skill deficits.

katie dawdy: Outstanding Educator 

Ms. Dawdy’s dedication, passion, and ability to inspire are truly unparalleled. She helps transform her student’s academic experience and instills in them confidence and a love for learning that will last a lifetime. She is an extraordinary educator, and her many years of service to our students and community deserve recognition. She deeply cares about her students and does everything she can to see them succeed. She goes above and beyond every single day! Every student she encounters is gifted with her experience, joy, and love of learning.
