Family Supports During Shoreline School Closures

Shoreline PTA Council is pleased to be working with our community partners to support students and families during the COVID-19 pandemic and building capacity for serving the broader community.  If you are in need of support (or can lend support), please check out the information below. You can also reach out to your school’s Family Advocate to learn about other supports. If you’re not sure who your Family Advocate is, check here. 

The WORKS Opening on September 8th

​The WORKS will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th with special dates and hours in September. Due to social distancing requirements, families must make a reservation in advance at tinyurl.com/works2020. Visit The WORKS page for more information.

  • Food Bank Home Delivery! 
    United Way of King County, Food Lifeline, the City of Seattle and Metro Access are offering home deliveries of emergency food across Seattle, North King County and East King County during COVID-19. Our Shoreline families are now able to access this resource, connecting them to a larger food network. Below is a little more information. Sign up here!
    - May be able to provide a more customized food selection to clients, including produce. 
    - Ordering is open.
    - One box is estimated to feed a family of four for approximately 2-4 days.
    - Households can order as often as they need.
    - Phone line includes nine different languages.
    - You can order online.
    - Boxes will be delivered within 2 days of request.

Childcare Support
The Y is offering full-day break camps at the Dale Turner Family YMCA and Ridgecrest Elementary School (with prioritization for families of first responders, health care providers of direct services, and parents/guardians who need to work). To register, use these links for programs by location: 

Here's a link to Visual Instructions to assist with registering. This is a NEW process to allow flexibility for families by providing daily options. 

The daily fee is $45 and includes full-day programming, AM and PM snack and lunch, and swimming (pending). Financial assistance is available. First responders and health care providers of direct services will have $0 fees for this program. Please send an email to registration@seattleymca.org before registering to receive your special coupon code.
 
There are many preventative health practices in place to ensure the well-being of Y staff, youth and families. Learn more  and ask questions about childcare support by contacting registration@seattleymca.org. 

Other Supports
Are you in need of utility support, rental assistance or transportation funds?  Contact: 
- Hopelink (206-440-7300)
- Shoreline Community Cares (Call 206-496-3116 to schedule a phone interview; no eviction notice or utility shut off required. Includes funds from City of Shoreline grant, as well as other funds from local churches and individuals.)  
- Your school's Family Advocate. If you’re not sure who your Family Advocate is, check here.

Are you able to lend support?

  • Donate funds for the purchase of grocery or gas cards for families in need! 
    Shoreline PTA Council is is working with Embrace Shoreline Schools and Kinder Konnection to collect funds for this purpose and partnering with school Family Advocates for the distribution of these cards.
    * To donate online, go to https://embraceshorelineschools.org/. If you have cards that you've already purchased and you'd like to donate them, please contact shorelineptapres@gmail.com to make arrangements.

  • Drop off food donations at one of the Little Free Pantries listed above (or build your own Little Free Pantry!).

  • Help provide food, rental assistance and utility support by donating to Hopelink. 

  • Help support child care access and food access through Dale Turner YMCA. 

  • Donate food items (preferably only what you already have on hand) and provide funding support for food and rent assistance through North Helpline (12736 33rd Ave. NE, Seattle).
    10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tues., Thurs., & Fri. Ring doorbell next to double doors on side of the top of driveway - do not enter warehouse.

  • Donate to United Way of King County's Community Relief Fund: Access to Food to support a network of food banks and family food relief programs countywide.
